| Alert: NAR Name Used in Consumer
Scam |
|
NAR's
Finance division has become aware of a scam under which
fraudulent checks are being issued to people from the
"National Assoc of Realtors." After recipients deposit
the checks, they receive a request to return some
of the funds. The scam succeeds when the recipients
comply by sending their own funds before the fraudulent
checks from "NAR" are returned unpaid. There is no
financial risk to NAR as a result of this scam; rather,
the risk is to NAR's financial reputation if word were
to spread that NAR is somehow involved in distributing
fraudulent checks. Please alert your members that their
national association is not involved in these actions
but is a victim of corporate identity theft. For more
info contact John
Pierpoint or call (312)
329-8260.

| RPAC’s Endorsed Candidates
List |
|
Please click here for the final list of 2010 RPAC
Endorsed Candidates and to see who RPAC is backing in
State and Federal races! If a district is
not listed, it means the RPAC Trustees decided to stay
out of that particular district. The
“Endorsement” from RPAC, the REALTORS® Political Action
Committee, means that the Candidate possesses those
attributes favorable to free enterprise, private
property rights, housing opportunity and choice. It
means that the Connecticut RPAC Trustees encourage our
members and families to support these candidates with
their votes, volunteer talent and financial
assistance.
If you would like to get involved with a
particular Candidate’s campaign, now is the time to
contact them, as “Elections 2010” is heating
up!

Hotsheet Legal Tip |
|
Keeping Information
Confidential
Connecticut’s Licensing Law (CGS §20-325h)
prohibits a real estate licensee from revealing
confidential information concerning a buyer client or
seller client you have represented or do represent, or
from using that information to your client’s
disadvantage or for the real estate broker’s,
salesperson’s or a third party’s advantage.
Confidentiality is a key aspect in exclusive
representation, so keeping a client’s confidential
information confidential is paramount. A dual agency
situation, where both the buyer agent and the listing
agent are in the same office, can be trickier, so taking
extra precautions, such as using different fax machines
for communications or not discussing the transaction’s
progress in the office may be
necessary. |
