2011 REALTORS® at the Capitol - A Huge Success!

The Connecticut Association of REALTORS® held its 27th Annual REALTORS® at the Capitol event on April 6, 2011. Over 700 REALTORS® convened at The Bushnell for an issues briefing session which featured Governor Dannel Malloy as the keynote speaker. Attendees then crossed the street and met with State Senators and Representatives at the LOB to let them know our views on the issues that affect our business. Thank you to all who attended to make this the most successful RAC event to date! Check out the RAC website for a chance to provide feedback and view photos from the event. Hotsheet Legal Tip

Typically, a landlord can enter his tenant’s dwelling unit at reasonable times and after the tenant has been given reasonable notice. However, a landlord does have the right to enter the dwelling unit of his tenant without the tenant’s consent in cases of emergency, when the tenant is absent for long periods of time and the purpose is to inspect the premises, and when the tenant has abandoned or surrendered the unit. Oftentimes, a lease between the landlord and the tenant spells out the circumstances under which a landlord may rightfully enter the premises, whether it is for inspection, repairs or showing to prospective tenants or purchasers. A landlord should not abuse his right of entry and a tenant should not unreasonably withhold consent. (CGS §47a-16).
