CAR Committees
 
CAR has 11 Committees that meet throughout the year to guide the Association's efforts on behalf of the membership. Click here to download a copy of CAR's entire leadership rosters.
 
Association Executives Committee

The purpose of the Association Executives Committee is to be the primary resource for Connecticut Association Executives by: providing leadership and association management programs to enhance their knowledge and skills, providing networking opportunities for AEs and local Association leadership to share their knowledge/experience, and providing a resource for CAR leadership on issues of particular importance to local Boards/Associations and AEs. This Committee is for local Association Executives only and meets 3 times per year.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is responsible for coordinating CAR's public affairs programs such as the Good Neighbor Award and the promotion of REALTOR® Safety Week. The Committee also provides input pertaining to the usage of communication tools that support the mission, goals and objectives of the Association while maintaining a positive REALTOR® image. Those tools include (but are not limited to) the CAR website and REALTOR® Hotsheet e-newsletter. The Committee meets twice per year with additional meetings scheduled on an as needed basis. Finance Committee

The Finance Committee consists of the President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Treasurer (who also serves as Chairperson) and two members-at-large appointed by the President from the elected members of the Executive Committee. Its role is to oversee the financial affairs of the Connecticut Association of REALTORS®, Inc. and to review and make recommendations to the Executive Committee about the financial affairs and policies of the Association. Grievance Committee

The Committee is responsible for making determinations as to whether there is any validity to a complaint that would justify holding a full hearing. Committee meets only when needed. For any questions regarding this committee, please contact Karen Malenfant.

Issues Advocacy Committee

The Issues Advocacy Committee promotes REALTOR® positions to the general public to create greater awareness of crucial issues and motivate the public to influence their local and State lawmakers. This committee meets at least six times per year. Membership is by appointment. For any questions regarding this committee, please contact David Pendrys.

Legislative/Political Affairs Committee

The Legislative/Political Affairs Committee is responsible for formulating public policy positions consistent with CAR's Statement of Policy, advocating the REALTOR® viewpoint on proposed bills or regulations and, in doing so, informing members and lawmakers of the effects of such legislation on property owners and our business. The Committee also encourages members to become involved in CAR's advocacy role. The Committee meets monthly during the legislative session (approximately 6-7 times a year). Political Fundraising Committee

The Political Fundraising Committee educates REALTORS® on the importance of raising funds for RPAC and Issues Advocacy. Outreach efforts including working with local Association leadership to share the techniques that are most effective in raising funds and promotion of the Committee's mission through an informative Political Fundraising Newsletter. Committee meets approximately 5-6 times per year. The Committee meets monthly during the legislative session (approximately 6-7 times a year). Professional Standards Committee

The Committee is responsible for hearing Ethics and Arbitration cases properly coming before CAR. In conjunction with modernization of license law relative to the CAR Business Plan, the Committee will promote high educational and licensing standards for greater confidence from buyers, sellers and fellow licensees. This will be done through offering the PSCS certification/re-certification program every other year, comprehensive Ethics and Arbitration knowledge/case management throughout the State and coordination with the local Boards/Associations. REALTORS® Grassroots Committee

The Committee's purpose is to strengthen REALTOR® member involvement in support of the Association's political, electoral and legislative endeavors at the local, State and National levels. This effort may include such things as the REALTOR® Champion program, enhancing member lobbying efforts for legislation supported/opposed by CAR, developing/maintaining an effective Political Contact Network (PCN), political education programs (i.e. Politics 101), increasing member response to "Calls for Action" at the local, State and National levels and encouraging overall REALTOR® grassroots involvement in political campaigns for those candidates endorsed by RPAC (i.e. "Five for Friends"). Risk Reduction Committee

The Committee is responsible for disseminating information about risk reduction to our members, identifying potential areas of liability, evaluating new/existing risk reduction products and services, providing a platform that enables REALTORS® to stay informed as to the latest laws/regulations and ethics policies/changes governing their businesses, to review in-service contracts/forms and make recommendations to the appropriate authority, and to provide information to our members that will keep them safe, both physically and professionally. RPAC Trustees

The RPAC Trustees encourage member participation in the entire RPAC process, raising funds as well as educating membership about the importance of submitting REALTOR® Recommendation forms for RPAC support to the RPAC Trustees for their consideration. They review Candidate Recommendations in order to make informed decisions about RPAC support for those candidates that will protect the real estate industry with regard to REALTOR® legislative issues. During an election year, Connecticut's RPAC Trustees consider requests for RPAC support of candidates running for State or Federal level office. The Trustees typically meet four to six times per year, more frequently during an election year. Membership is by appointment. For any questions regarding this committee, please contact Holly Reed.
