The Conference had a great line up of speakers which included 2011 NAR President Ron Phipps, NAR General Counsel Laurie Janik, Real Estate Advisor Jerry Matthews and our conference keynote speaker Terry Watson.
In addition to Laurie providing a legal update and Ron sharing updates from NAR, they both participated in an interactive conversation with attendees. This was a unique opportunity for attendees to be able ask questions and share an open dialog with NAR leadership.
Real Estate Advisor Jerry Matthews spoke to attendees on “The Future of Real Estate: Mobile, Social, Local”. You can learn more about Jerry Matthews here.
Terry Watson our conference keynote gave attendees a hilarious, motivational message asking them “Why Be Normal?”. You can learn more about Terry Watson here.
CAR’s biennial “CE Day” held on November 30th was a great opportunity for members to take their required Continuing Education for 2012 license renewal in a fun, interactive environment while networking with REALTORS® from across the state. There was a Professional Standards Mock Trial facilitated by CAR General Counsel Eugene Marconi and the mandatory course required for license renewal was taught by CAR Assistant Counsel Judith Johannsen.
This year the “Hall of Benefits” was featured on CE Day, which provided members an opportunity to learn about the products and services available through CAR’s Member Benefits Program. Congratulations to all of our Hall of Benefits’ drawing winners!
- Mitchell Stevenson: $100 American Express Gift Card from Bearingstar
- Beverly Nebelung: $200 Raymour & Flanigan Gift Card
- Cheryl Auerbach: $100 Gift Card to The Bushnell
- Gary Duprey: $100 American Express Gift Card from Pearl Insurance

You can view a complete listing of Member Benefit programs here. Thank you to Bearingstar, BJs, Energy Plus, Raymour & Flanigan, The Bushnell, Pearl Insurance and UPS for participating in the “Hall of Benefits”.
2012 CAR President Bob Kimball’s “Unlock Your Potential” theme was highlighted throughout the Conference, including providing each Conference registrant a key that could open a treasure chest which contained cash and prizes. Members had the same opportunity to open the treasure chest on CE Day, earning their key to try by visiting with the companies who participated in the Hall of Benefits.
Congratulations to all of our conference “treasure chest” winners (20 attendees won prizes ranging from $100 in cash, $100 gas cards, free online CE courses, a bundle of lottery tickets and men’s and women’s UConn Basketball tickets). Congratulations also to Kate Nucera from the Eastern CT Association of REALTORS® who won a free registration for next year’s event just for filling out a feedback form and to the New Canaan Board of REALTORS® for winning the CAR local Board participation challenge (a $1,500 sponsorship from CAR for a local Board meeting/event next year)!
